I’m so excited for this family! When Nicole first reached out to me about newborn photos she expressed she wanted the photos to be soft, simple and light! Nothing harsh or dark. I totally knew what she meant and was excited for the opportunity to work with her and Alex once their baby arrived.
One of the main reasons I love shooting newborn photos on film is because of the natural and soft tones is creates. My newborn studio creates the perfect space for families to come, spend time together in an environment perfect for photos. I always aim for my photos to look natural and candid and I love the way these turned out!
Spring Almond Blossom Family Photos - Chico California - Kerns Family
The Almond Blossoms in Northern California are breathtaking and such a popular time of year to have family photos taken. Kate contacted me a few weeks before the blossoms were completely gone and we caught the very end of the season. Even though the trees were much more sparse than the beginning of the season, the lush green grass and beautiful colors make for an amazing session.

Since having my son Kaizen, I have fallen in love with motherhood sessions. Don’t get me wrong, family lifestyle sessions are such a joy too but I specially love capturing the connection between a momma and her kiddos. I believe us mommas are warriors and the beauty each of us have inside and outside is so worth celebrating. We can all learn from each others strengths and champion each other even if we choose to parent our kids differently.

My approach to photography is to always make my families feel comfortable and at ease. I want to capture the raw and tender moments a family has for one another. This might look like a cuddle on the couch together or silly faces between a baby and their parents. Whatever that is, I want my images to bring my families back to those precious moments to the feelings in the photo.

What a sweet way to celebrate with one of our TréCreative wedding couples. Adam and Kasey welcomed their baby girl Brynn on Easter Sunday. She was their Easter miracle! When we photographed Adam and Kasey’s wedding, many people commented on them being Chico State athletes and teammates on and off the field. I loved watching them interact with Brynn and tag team and help one another out in parenthood. Their teamwork mentality is carrying into parenthood so well and many other aspects of life. They are a great team and I loved watching them care for their baby girl.

Modern Baby Book Inspiration - California Newborn Photographer
Before having my son Kaizen in December 2019, I was on the hunt for a modern baby book that would preserve all his sweet memories without overwhelming myself with this task. My mom did an amazing job writing and keeping track of every milestone for my brothers. She did this without a fancy camera, the internet or pre-made baby books. I admired her diligence and the way she intentionally put time aside to remember each season. As a photographer, preserving memories is already such a high honor and I knew I wanted to be intentional about this for our own son and future children.

Newborn Photographer in Chico CA - Baby Drake
What an amazing journey it has been working with Kasey and Kinsey throughout their whole pregnancy and birth experience. We met these two a few months ago for their Bidwell Park maternity session. From there we also had the privilege of photographing baby Drake with 48 hours after he was born at Enloe Hospital. And then, the icing on the cake was meeting these three at their beautiful Chico home for newborn photos.

We remember meeting Leo for the first time. He was the most precious beautiful newborn. Jeremy and Maggie have been huge supporters of our work for years and we are so grateful for them! We first met these two right after they were engaged. We walked with them through that season and had the privilege of being their wedding photographers and videographers. From there, we were honored to capture their maternity, newborn and now Leo’s one year old photos!
Chico Family Lifestyle Photographer - Jarvis Home Family Photos
For family lifestyle sessions, our goal is focus on connection and creating moments that are natural for the families we get to work with. We still will capture a few more traditional smiling “looking at the camera” photos, but that’s not the focus of these sessions. The focus is helping the family forget about the camera and letting candid moments come out. Our homes can be such intimate spaces and it was an honor to be invited into the Jarvis household.
